The 5th edition of Cares Expo Taipei had a grand opening on Sept 12, 2024 at the Nangang International Exhibition Center, Hall 1. The ceremony brought together 150 industry professionals, government officials, and academic leaders to celebrate Taiwan's largest care-focused exhibition.

For the past five years, Cares Expo Taipei has highlighted Taiwan's advancements in elder and long-term care, showcasing the country's leading position in the care industry, particularly in Asia. Parson Lee, Founder of Anke Media and the organizer of Cares Expo Taipei, emphasized the immense business potential of the elder care industry. He noted that Taiwan has become a central hub for elder care, with well-established products, solutions, and services. Lee also shared his vision of positioning Taiwan as a global leader in the care industry, aiming to make the Taipei International Care Expo the most representative platform in Asia. Through this platform, Taiwan’s care services and products will meet international standards and expand globally, solidifying its role as a key player in the global care market.

Distinguished guests included Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, Lü Jiande and Deputy Mayor of Taipei, Lin Yihua; alongside other prominent government officials. In his speech, Lü Jiande highlighted the challenges and opportunities as Taiwan transitions into a super-aged society. He underscored the government's commitment to long-term care, with the budget increasing from NT$50 billion during the inception of Long-Term Care 2.0 to NT$80 billion last year, and a projected rise to NT$92.3 billion next year. The care workforce has also seen significant growth, expanding from 25,000 to 98,000 workers, while the number of care centers has increased from 725 to 15,000, demonstrating the government's dedication to promoting long-term care services.

This year’s expo features five cluster exhibitions and eight themed pavilions, bringing together 400 exhibitors across a 1,300 sqm exhibition space, with buyers attending from 12 different countries. Lee noted that the care industry is continually evolving, and this year’s expo introduces new areas such as the Drugstore Pavilion, Pet Long-Term Care, and the Hospital-at-Home (HAH) Pavilion. These exhibits reflect the changing role of drugstores as future centers for care and health management. For the first time, the expo also spotlights long-term care for pets, expanding the care focus beyond humans, along with a special demonstration area showcasing the government's new Hospital-at-Home service policy.
