Mynd Immersive and CTA Foundation launch innovative elder care initiative

Mynd Immersive, a pioneer in delivering immersive therapeutics to older adults, has partnered with the CTA Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Consumer Technology Association, to launch the Great American Elderverse program. Supported by the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation, AT&T, HTC VIVE, NETGEAR, and Select Rehabilitation, this initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for underserved and lower-income seniors across the United States through immersive content and technology.

The Great American Elderverse program will initially launch in 60 communities in the tri-state area, with plans to expand to hundreds of communities nationwide throughout 2024 and 2025. The program's launch is made possible by the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation.

"As the aging population rapidly expands, we are finding fascinating ways to improve the lives and health of our elders with spatial computing and AI," said Chris Brickler, CEO and co-founder of Mynd Immersive. "The Elderverse opens a new, three-dimensional window into a world of patient-centered, 5G-connected care. We take great pride in helping caregivers, clinicians, and therapists harness this next generation of digital therapy across mental, physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual health."

"The importance of eldercare cannot be understated," said Alex Cohen, President of the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation and New York Mets Owner. "We are proud to support the CTA Foundation and this innovative project to help improve the lives of older adults."

The first recipients of the Great American Elderverse program include four distinguished senior care operators: The New Jewish Home in Manhattan, Christian Health of New Jersey, Lutheran Care Center of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, New York.

Key strategic partners include:

  • HTC VIVE: Providing lightweight, immersive glasses for stunning visual and spatial audio experiences.

  • AT&T: Offering fast and secure 5G service for seamless IoT connectivity.

  • NETGEAR: Supplying best-in-class WiFi with Nighthawk M6 Pro 5G mobile hotspots.

  • Select Rehabilitation: Providing clinical leadership for use in occupational, physical, and speech therapy.

These partners are crucial in developing the future of Connected Health, where wearables, 5G connectivity, AI, and spatial computing can monitor health conditions and improve overall well-being. This holistic approach aims to extend both lifespan and health span, promoting more fulfilling and independent lives.

Research, including a study by Stanford University using Mynd in 17 communities across 10 states, supports the effectiveness of Immersive Therapeutics (ITx). Findings indicate that about 60% of senior residents experienced decreased isolation, over 80% had improved mood, and over 90% reported better relationships with their caregivers.

The Great American Elderverse program, in partnership with the CTA Foundation, provides a tax-deductible donation option for foundations, family offices, and corporate donors to support seniors regionally or nationwide.

Senior living facilities are increasingly adopting AI technologies to enhance their services. Brookdale Senior Living partners with WellnessAI to use predictive analytics for anticipating health issues, while Holiday by Atria collaborates with OptiSchedule to optimize staff schedules using AI. Atria Senior Living employs SafeGuardAI for AI-driven surveillance systems, including facial recognition and behavioral analysis, to detect unauthorized visitors and unusual activities.

This initiative represents a significant step forward in elder care, combining cutting-edge technology with compassionate care to improve the lives of older adults across the United States.
